Who we are?
Our Mission
Indian Lake Yacht Club is a casual, member-owned sailing club dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing for all ages and skill levels. Through youth and adult instruction, club racing, regional and national regattas, and leisure sailing and social events, we foster a welcoming, family-oriented community built around a shared love of being on the water.
About Indian Lake Yacht Club
Founded in 1942, Indian Lake Yacht Club is a family-oriented sailing and social club where members come from all walks of life—from first-time sailors to national champions. Anyone with an interest in sailing may apply for membership. The club proudly supports an active one-design racing program representing five national racing classes, while also offering a relaxed environment for recreational sailing and social connection.
ILYC’s waterfront facilities include 72 private docks, a heated and enclosed clubhouse with a full kitchen, a large shelter house, and showers and restrooms. The shaded grounds feature picnic tables, grills, and lawn seating, along with a sandy beach and playground for children. Two electric hoists support easy launching, and boats may be stored at club docks or in the dry-sail parking area.
Throughout the sailing season, from April through October, the club hosts Sunday afternoon racing, youth and adult sailing classes, invitational regattas, and a full calendar of social events including potlucks, special dinners, and holiday gatherings. Non-racers enjoy day sailing, lakeside socializing, and opportunities to crew for racing skippers. The season concludes with the annual Commodore’s Ball, celebrating the achievements and contributions of our members.
Membership at Indian Lake Yacht Club includes access to all club facilities and grounds, a club key, newsletters, and the opportunity to rent dock or dry-sail space. Dues are kept affordable through a hands-on, “do-it-yourself” philosophy, with members contributing to maintenance projects, improvements, and committee service—helping ensure the club remains strong, welcoming, and member-driven for generations to come.
