Cruisers

Classic Trailerable Cruisers

At Indian Lake Yacht Club, the cruiser fleet is a robust and diverse group of non-class monohulls. The fleet includes boats from American, Cape Dory, Catalina, Chrysler, Com-Pac, Herreshoff, Hunter, MacGregor, O’Day, Precision, Sea Fox, S2, and West Wight Potter, creating a true patchwork of designs, personalities, and sailing styles. In many respects, this cruiser “fleet” is the lifeblood and glue that holds the club together.

While the emphasis is on day sailing, cruising, and shared experiences, cruiser sailors are always welcome to jump into occasional PHRF races that invite all boats—class and non-class alike. These events focus less on silverware and more on seamanship, learning, and post-sail camaraderie.

The cruiser fleet at ILYC brings an unmatched passion for sailing and skill building on Indian Lake. It’s a group that mentors freely, celebrates progress, and values time spent together on the water. In the spirit of the lake’s long tradition—and with a nod to the pirates who roam it—the eclectic mix of monohulls channels a little Jack Sparrow energy: independent, adventurous, and always ready for fun.

If you’re looking for relaxed sailing, good company, and a fleet that truly defines the heart of the club, the Hunter 23 and the ILYC cruiser fleet are right at home.

The cruiser fleet at Indian Lake Yacht Club is the heart of the club, and new sailors, skippers, and crews are always welcome aboard.

No matter what you sail, ILYC offers a welcoming, low-pressure place to learn, and connect. This is a fleet built on shared sunsets, spontaneous raft-ups, dockside stories, and a genuine love of being on the water. Advice is freely given, help is never far away, and there’s always room for one more aboard.

The focus is seamanship, skill-building, and camaraderie—results are optional, friendships are not.

In the spirit of the “pirates of Indian Lake”, this fleet embraces independence, curiosity, and fun.  The boats may all be different, but the crew shares a common passion for sailing, learning, and making the most of every breeze.
